Family relationships can become complicated even when people care deeply about one another. Long-standing roles, expectations, different ways of communicating, and changing circumstances can create cycles that are difficult to recognize (and even harder to change) from inside the family.
Families come to therapy for parenting disagreements (including high-conflict co-parenting), conflict with an adult child, sibling tensions, blended family challenges, difficult extended-family relationships, or the changing roles and responsibilities that come with caring for aging parents.
Therapy can help identify recurring family patterns, clarify roles and boundaries, improve communication, and better understand how each person's responses affect the larger family system. The goal is not to determine who is right, but to help family members respond more effectively while keeping important relationships and priorities in view.
